ABOUT US
Athletic Track & Field Equipment Supplies is owned and run by Matthew Lovell and Trish McHendrie. The business has been running 
for 5 years, and we are now starting to expand.

Matthew Lovell
Athletics SA and Southern Sharks member since 1992. Master's SA Member since 1996.  Level 3 Multi-Event Athletics Coach. 
Coaching duties include Southern Sharks, Eastern Districts Little Athletics, Squad LA Little Athletics and Star Squad Little 
Athletics. Main events are Decathlon, Pentathlon, Hammer and Triple Jump. Competing in Senior, Over 35's, and 45-49 age group 
for Masters.

Trish McHendrie
Athletics SA, Southern Sharks, Western Districts and Master's SA member. Level 3 Athletics Coach. Coaching duties 
include Southern Sharks, Eastern Districts Little Athletics, Squad LA Little Athletics and Star Squad Little Athletics. 
Main events are Pentathlon, Triple Jump, Sprints and Discus. Competing in Over 35's age group and 45-49 age group in Masters.



THE ATFCA
The Australian Track and Field Coaches Association is "THE" coaches association for Track & Field in Australia, hence its name.
Founded in 1974, it is recognised by all athletics bodies in Australia, and is responsible for the coordination and development of athletics 
coaching.

The Executive Director is Glynis Nunn:

- 1984 Olympic Gold in the Heptathlon
- 1982 Commonwealth Gold in the Heptathlon
- 1986 Commonwealth Bronze in the 100m Hurdles

Her husband Chris, competed in the Decathlon for Australia. The wealth of experience within the association, is the best in Australia.

I urge any Track & Field coaches to join the ATFCA.  Benefits include:

Only ATFCA members will have access to this material - a benefit of being a member. The National office of the ATFCA has every copy 
of Modern Athlete and Coach published and the time consuming job of going through past copies to retrieve the most appropriate articles 
has commenced. These will be scanned and posted on a regular basis. Many coaching consultants and leading Australian coaches have 
been asked to forward any articles they have collected over their many years of coaching that they feel will benefit beginning 
and experienced coaches. This is all about sharing information and networking.

The site will continuously change - more articles will be posted each month and members are encouraged to check the articles on a 
regular basis.

So how can the site be used? The information provided will help to build a technical model, provide further ideas, extend your knowledge, 
challenge your thoughts, and hopefully help you to improve your coaching eye and coaching ability.

ATFCA News (produced quarterly)
The ATFCA Newsletter is also a quarterly publication with updated events, latest info, book reviews, tributes, program changes, 
results and much, much more.

The ATFCA has many titles on its extensive Publications List. In developing the exciting partnership with Human Kinetics, 
they are now able to pass on the most competitive prices to members of ATFCA. A detailed description of all books and videos/DVDs can

CHANGES TO LITTLE ATHLETICS RULES
Little Athletics Australia has established a National Technical Committee to lead the standardisation of Little Athletics Rules thoughout 
Australia. The following rules will bring some associations in line with the National Rules:

Spikes
Spikes can be worn by athletes in the Under 11 age groups, and above, in the following events - 100m, 200m, 400m, Hurdles, Long Jump, 
Triple Jump, High Jump, Javelin and Relays conducted in lanes.

Athletes in the Under 13's, and above, may also wear spikes in the 800m and 1500m.

Starting Blokes
Athletes in the Under 13's, and above, may use Starting Blocks, including the first leg of all Relay events.

Hurdles
All Hurdles must be of the collapsible style by 2020.

Walks
Yellow Paddle for caution, and Red Card for warnings.  Red cards are issued verbally for Under 10's and Under 11's, and non-verbally 
for all other events.

High Jump
For State Individual Champs, the following increments will apply - 5cm increments until 6 or fewer athletes remain.  Then 2cm for the 
remainder of the competition.

ATHLETIC TRACK & FIELD IS NOW PRODUCING HURDLES IN AUSTRALIA
We are now taking orders for Little Athletics Hurdles, with Senior Hurdles being developed in the near future.  All raw materials have 
been sourced, and the design choosen. Committees will no longer have to take chance on buying Hurdles which blow over in the wind, 
wobble back and forth, or have the nuts fall off, amoungst other things!

Standard heights for the Little Athletics Hurdles (45, 60, 68 & 76cm) with easy fall over, clear of the athlete.

We've also been able to supply our Hurdles for less than imported ones - $50AUD.  Together with our great shipping rates around the 
country, clubs can put their money to better uses, like Pole Vault Equipment!  ;-)

TRACK & FIELD COACHING COURSES
There has been a lot of confusion lately about Coach Levels, and Courses for Australian Track and Field Coaches. The Australian 
Track & Field Coaches Association (ATFCA) have now handed over the responsibilty of the Coach Accreditation Framework to 
Athletics Australia. For clarification about the Coaching Accreditation Framework (Levels etc.), Athletics Australia had to wait 
to hear from IAAF. Most of the details are now sorted.
